This hike is not for the lighthearted. Calories will be burned! But, at the same time, this hike is totally doable for the beginner. Be prepared to layer up to stay warm. Get a map of the area, if possible (There will be plenty of people to ask for directions not to mention trails to follow.) Bring plenty of water. And lastly, have fun!
10 degrees is no match for Jennie! |
When I say prepare to layer up, what I mean is it can become really cold, especially when you stop to take a break or spend time on top after the hike. We hiked in 10 degree weather pretty much the entire time. And it was apparent that it was cold out.
Jennie shows Baker the Hawk love! |
Pub time, anybody?! |
At 4200 feet, Baker has the world record for the most snowfall in a single season with 95 feet. Snowshoeing is possible from November to June. Allowing visit after visit. And snow camping is also a possibility with the round trip only being 4 miles with a 1000 foot elevation gain.
And now for a few beautiful pictures...
